Tomorrow's the BIG day! Meet me in the children's department at Bartlett Library at 3:00. We'll share what we are reading...look for some GREAT new books and just have a GREAT time looking at all the wonderful books! Can't wait to see everyone!

A Year in Review

It's been WAAY too busy and WAAY too long since I posted our classroom happenings. We've had book fair....school picnic...field day...and let's not forget all the learning that went into these last few weeks. This summer I invite all the students to join me at the Bartlett library at 3:00 on the 4th Sunday of each month. (See note with exact dates in your report card that will go home on Monday). We'll look at books and share our reading. Meet me in the Children's department...it will be a LOT of fun..plus you can update your summer reading with the Library's summer reading club. Tomorrow we have school from 8-9 am. We will sign autograph books, share a few memories, write a letter to next years second graders as well as pass our report cards and the Memory Books you wrote. It will go fast...just like this year did. To the best 2nd grade class:

Another week comes to an end. I can't believe how close it is getting to the end of they year. We worked on fiction stories in writers workshop-learning about transition words, repeating lines, and more. We also learned about how to determine importance in our fiction reading. We will continue working on this next week. We took our reading map test today...phew...all done with those! Here are some pictures of our students of the day:

Emily returned from her trip to Poland and shared her journal and some stories. Sounds like she had a lot of fun!

We enjoyed listening to our HOT READ last week, but Isabella was the 1st to read it on her on. She gets a special label inside the book that says: "Isabella was the 1st to read this on April 14, 2012"! Another member of our "First Read Club!" Congratulations!

And, in Mrs. Perrone's room, Alyssa was today's MYSTERY READER!!!! The kids MUST have loved it as we could hear them laughing at the antics of the characters in the book in OUR room! I hope your sister was surprised!

Mystery Readers

Just before our spring break, two former students, Mallory and Neha, came in as Mystery Readers! They were both 1st grade students of mine...how proud I am of how they have grown as readers. And...they LOVE to read!

A quick note

I know I am negligent in updating this blog, but, as an example, I'm in a class tonight till after 8, and that's an early night! So, I promise this weekend I will update with pictures and more. But, tomorrow we are going on our field trip to Hemmens Auditorium for Bodology. We will be back in time for lunch. We also have another field trip the planetarium on April 24. More this weekend...I'm late!!!! Thanks for sending me such WONDERFUL STUDENTS!!!!!
