Tales of Thursday

Visit the U-46 website (click on link to right) and find out the times for the open forum's with Dr. Torres on our district finances. Every parent of a U-46 student should attend one of these and make their voices heard.

Chris was our child of the day and did a wonderful job reading. He brought a book from the library and reminded us to all have a card and visit the library every week. GREAT THINKING, Chris...and GREAT READING, as well!

Our reading workshop focused around inferring at the text level. We will continue to work on this. I HIGHLY recommend the book, 7 Keys to Comprehension: How to Help Your Child Read It and Get It by Susan Zimmerman. It will give you ideas as a parent on how you can help your child make inferences. This is a difficult concept to grasp, but this book will give you some fun and practical ways to help your child develop this strategy. The author gives you ideas for your youngest to oldest child.

We began our study of biographies in writing today. We read The Story of Ruby Bridges. We will be reading many biographies, looking at the author's craft, and writing biographies as well.

Check out BRADLEY'S Titanic story!!!! He wrote a piece about the famous ship and then typed into a PowerPoint presentation. Click on the link to the right on Student Writing. Then scroll down to the bottom and there is Bradley's story. Take time to read it and comment on the blog about the story. I'm sure he would like feedback!!!

We had art and ELL enrichment time today. Tomorrow we have P.E. and music, so be sure and wear appropriate shoes for class.

There will not be another blog posting until Monday.

Have a GREAT night and don't forget to READ....READ....READ!!!!
