With the rain, Field Day has been postponed until next Friday, May 22.
After art and ESL enrichment, math workshop began. 1st graders worked on number sense and 2nd graders learned about counting up to make change.
We learned that in writing a response to a book we can follow this plan: Restate the questions, write a GIST answer, give at least 3 supporting details, then write a concluding statement with feeling. Next week we will learn about synthesizing.
During writers' workshop we learned about endings. Not only does our lead and 1st sentences need to hook the reader, our endings need to linger with our readers as well.
All library books were due today. A few students still have theirs. Please return them school on Monday.
