I'm having problems posting Mashal's reading of That's Not My Dog! I'll work on it later this week. She did a GREAT job, though!
Both 1st and 2nd graders worked on math projects to prepare them for tomorrow. First graders learned more about equivalent fractions and then cut out fraction strips to help them visualize equivalencies tomorrow during our lesson. 2nd graders learned more about place value and then made a place value book to the ten-thousands that they will use tomorrow also during their lesson.
In readers' workshop we learned more about the reading comprehension strategy of synthesis. We learned that our ideas begin BIG, then as we read, our thinking changes, we add in our schema, start eliminating and changing our thinking, until we narrow it down to the one main idea.
In writers' workshop we focused on the trait of organization.
Tomorrow is our whole school picnic. Mr. Burger sent out a phone message to all parents. Be sure and listen to it. Bring your blankets, put on sunscreen, and be prepared to READ! If you wish to bring a book from home you may, just write your name in it.
