Monday Marvels

Our child of the day, Josh, did a great job reading and leading us through the promise. Listen as he reads:

Kaitlyn's grandmother surprised her as our mystery reader. She read Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! What fun!

In math workshop, 1st graders worked on equivalent fractions and 2nd graders worked on place value to the ten thousands.

We began working on the reading strategy of synthesis today. I modeled what it looked like doing a think aloud using the book Jin Woo by Eve Bunting. So far, we have learned that synthesis involves changing your thinking as you read, and, weaving your ideas in with the text.

In writers' workshop we worked on organization. Some students are illustrating stories.

Please remember that all library books were due back to school last Friday. If you have not returned them, please do so tomorrow.
