Monday Musings!

Klara was our child of the day and she did a wonderful job reading the traditional tale,The Ugly Duckling. She led us through the calendar and pledge as well. Great Fluency, Klara!

In math workshop today, 1st graders did explorations with attribute blocks and learned more about what attributes are. 2nd graders worked on equivalent fractions.

In reading we learned that authors weave important ideas together that build to the big idea. We read the book, The Keeping Quilt, and noted the small ideas and how they built.

In word work, students worked on word wall walls.

Today was the 2nd day at writing poetry. Students learned that poets look at the world differently than other authors/writers. They also learned about line breaks and how they help the reader interpret the poem.

Tomorrow we will preview the book fair. On Wednesday, if students wish to purchase a book, they need to come to school with their money in a sealed envelope, labeled with their name and what they wish to purchase. Information about what they are interested in will come home tomorrow.
