Today we finished up our vocabulary work on the words regret, redeem, heroic, calamity, impressed, precious, and insist. We'll start a new unit next week.
We also read about Christopher Columbus. First, to activate our schema, we wrote down what we knew. Then, we read a little about him, followed by our burning question of what did we each still want to know. Then, we read more about him and wrote what the most important thing about Columbus was to each of us and three facts we learned.
In math, second graders finished up learning about number stories and first graders learned about numbers all around.
We also went to the library. Tomorrow is a switch day. We will follow a Monday schedule. For us, Monday and Wednesday are the same: no specials!
